Beetroot Gratin Recipe

A tasty beetroot starter dish

This dish is tasty enough to eat on its own, or serve it with fish or meat as an accompaniment, or serve on toast for a quick snack.

Ingredients

800g beetroot
150ml double cream
25g Parmesan, grated
Butter
Breadcrumbs

Recipe Instructions

Recipe Instructions:
Preheat the oven to 190C.

Cook the beetroot.
The beetroot can be baked or cooked in the microwave until it is tender and then cut into thin slices.

Prepare to bake.
Layer the slices of beetroot with a sprinkle of parmesan and seasoning between each layer in an ovenproof dish.  Make the last layer that of beetroot, press it down well and scatter over the last of the cheese.  Pour the cream into the ovenproof dish; this should level out with the top layer of beetroot.  Top with the breadcrumbs and dot with butter.

Bake.
Place in the oven and bake for 15 – 20 minutes until the cheese is golden brown and bubbling.
